FLOWER PRINT EXHIBITION – ANTHOTYPE

KELLY BARFOOT

Artist and photographer Kelly Barfoot presents a selection of prints of plants using a historic photographic technique Anthotype. The plant prints are beautiful and temporary, organic in both theme and form. Discovered in the 1800s and experimented with by Sir John Herschel in the 1840s during his quest to invent colour photography, the method involves producing a tincture from flowers, leaves and vegetables. You will see the vibrancy of the exhibited images fade over the duration of the exhibition, which the artist feels is important to the natural process of the work.
