There will be large scale outdoor events as part of Gravity Fields Festival, including some of the country’s leading outdoor arts specialists.

To enable these events to take place road closures will be in place through the town during the festival period.


Grantham town centre is located just off the A1. 

Be aware of road closures

As part of Gravity Fields Festival (26 – 30 September) there will be some road closures to enable large scale outdoor events to take place.

The following roads will be closed to traffic on Saturday (29 Sept) from 2pm to 11pm: St Peter’s Hill (from junction of Post Office / Wharf Road), High Street to its junction with Vine Street, Finkin Street, Elmer Street South, Elmer Street North, Castlegate (part of), Avenue Road (to the junction of High Street and Castlegate), Guildhall Street, Swinegate and Watergate (from junction of car park to junction with Vine Street).

Other closures are:

Market Place / Conduit Lane; 6am Wed (26 Sept) to 11pm Sun (30 Sept)

Wide Westgate / Welby Street: 6pm Wed (26 Sept) to 3am Sunday (30 Sept)

Narrow Westgate: 4am – midnight Saturday (29 Sept)

Slip Road outside Grantham Guildhall (including taxi rank):  Noon Wed (26 Sept) to 11am Monday (1 Oct)

Church Street:  8am Sat (29 Sept) to 8pm Sun (30 Sept)

St Peters Hill (from junction of Post Office / Wharf Road), High Street to junction with Vine Street, Avenue Road to the junction of High Street and Castlegate: 7pm – 11pm Friday (28 Sept).

CallConnect is a public bus service that operates in response to pre-booked requests.

Registration is free but you must be a member to book a journey. You can then use the service for any reason and as frequently as required.

The fully accessible minibuses operate from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, and from 7.30am to 6.30pm on Saturdays, with some local variations.

In most cases, CallConnect will pick up and set down at designated locations in each village or town.

Passengers with a disability or those living in more isolated locations can be picked up and returned to their home address, if it is safe and practical to do so.

You can use CallConnect to travel anywhere within each service’s operating area. You can also use it connect with the main Interconnect bus service or other bus and train services.

Concessionary bus passes are valid on all services.
